Senior Resource Analyst (d/f/m) Offshore

RWE Renewables GmbH, Hamburg, Essen

To start as soon as possible, Full time, Permanent

As a Senior Resource Analyst within the Resource Offshore team, you will be providing your technical guidance and expertise in wind resource assessment and energy yield modelling to all offshore projects within our global pipeline. You will be participating and representing the company in external expert groups as well as in international R&D/innovation projects with the aim to maximise the value of those activities. Furthermore, lead of technical due diligence on new opportunities, detailed analysis of specific wind conditions, design and approval of measurement campaigns, design and optimisation of turbine layouts, post-construction EPE analyses, power curve measurements as well as management of internal and external stakeholders are other examples of your diverse task landscape that you will face in the daily business. Development and mentoring of our Junior/Medior Analysts is also expected to ensure consistent development of our talents.

Your future plans
  • Provide technical expertise as a Senior Resource Analyst throughout the complete lifecycle of offshore wind farm projects from "Greenfield" through BID and FID - you are the technical authority in your area of expertise
  • Independently analyse potential wind energy via in-depth analysis of meteorological raw data from various types of devices and/or other available data up to the translation and statistical adjustment into a predicted long-term wind resource by applying industries best practices and latest science - you know the science and cutting edge methodologies like the back of your hand
  • Model wind flow and energy yield production estimates via multiple engineering-based wake models including the quantification of various technical losses, inherent uncertainties and identification of discipline-specific risks and opportunities - you have an impressive track record
  • Lead in the design and optimisation of turbine layouts and the optimisation of projects towards LCoE - you have tackled multiple technical challenges and you know the future trends
  • Conduct "technical" due diligence analysis with regard to wind resource, energy yield, turbine layout, site conditions and proposed wind turbines
  • Approve the design of new and review existing measurement campaigns based on various types of measurement systems (e.g. met mast, LiDAR, Floating LiDAR, nacelle-mounted LiDAR) as well as review and independently analyse results from power curve measurements
  • Support internal and external discipline-specific R&D projects and manage and independently analyse 3rd party assessments - you have an R&D mentality and you have multiple examples in which you developed technical solutions
  • Continuously improve existing in-house standards, industries "best practices" and in-house software tools used for various tasks - you never stop, you understand that Offshore is the driver for innovation and that continuous improvement is necessary in all areas
Your profile
  • Master's degree or Diploma in Meteorology, Aeronautics, Astronautics, Mathematics, Natural Sciences or Engineering
  • Long-standing relevant experience, key cutting-edge knowledge, solid and proven track record in wind resource assessment, project design and modeling of wind farm energy production according to best practices and applying the latest science and R&D
  • Solid experience in wind turbine layout design/optimisation, site conditions assessments, load assessments and/or power curve measurements advantageous
  • Very good knowledge and impressive experience in using relevant wind resource analysis tools (e.g. WindPro, OpenWind, WindoGrapher) for relevant statistical analyses as well as wake models - you know your science
  • Reasonable knowledge and understanding of wind turbine technology (e.g. aerodynamics, turbine control, SCADA system) as well as offshore wind farm system design (e.g. electrical infrastructure) advantageous
  • Knowledge of and experience in programming languages (e.g. Matlab, Python) advantageous
  • Agile mindset and working attitude, analytical skills, creativity and problem-solving competence desired
  • Very good written and spoken English, knowledge of German advantageous
